i have asked this of other book makers so its not just you - have you considered making the spines of books? so we can load bookshelves like most book owners do

It’s an interesting idea to consider. I guess one main issue with it is perspective and lighting. Generally with pixel assets regarding multiple views, the best way I’ve found is to model a 3d object in blender from different profiles and pixelate the output. However you normally won’t see too many pixel assets with multiple view angles simply because it’s both labor intensive and generally specific to a projects needs.

For example a full profile from the back could show just the spine or include the top of pages as well. Two different angles that would require work on both, also depending on how it’s used, lighting plays more of an effect on the design too as you would want to design it in mind of the image being right next to one another. From that the scope is intensive as right now this pack has 70 designs with 3 different sizes, so an additional 210 designs per angle of view.

I hope that answered your question, but if you have any more or follow ups, feel free to ask. Have a wonderful day.

This is really fascinating, thank you for the detailed reply. i guess i'm very attached to 2D - for dimensional effects those assets just generally include an optional shadow file or a whole new copy with shadows attached. That is something new to consider!
